неплатежеспособность
Неспособность вовремя оплатить свои долги. В случаях отдельных индивидуумов это может повести к банкротству (bankruptcy), а в случае компаний - к ликвидации (liquidation). В обоих случаях обычной процедурой является назначение специалиста-лица, распоряжающегося имуществом на началах доверительной собственности, в случае банкротства или ликвидатора - для сбора и распределения активов неплатежеспособного лица и выплат долгов его кредиторам. Неплатежеспособность часто ведет к банкротству или ликвидации, хотя и не всегда. Неплатежеспособный человек может иметь ценные активы, которые нельзя реализовать немедленно.

Ситуация, когда выручка от реализации продукции и услуг не покрывает всех затрат на их производство, транспортировку, хранение и переработку и не обеспечивает cвоевременного возврата кредитов и платежей поставщикам. Состояние неплатежеспособности предприятия или иной организации устанавливается в судебном порядке (См. Несостоятельность, банкротство)
